Self Motivation, Your Key to Success
Janet Schlarbaum shares motivational tips.
By Jennifer Lim
Motivation is defined as the intention of achieving a goal, leading to goal-directed behaviour. It drives us towards achievement our goals, give us a reason to do things that is required to reach our goal. There are two kinds of motivation, outside and self motivation.
Outside motivation are motivation from an inspiring book, a story about courage, nature and even a child. You could be motivated after hearing a speech from an inspirational speaker or you might want to do something for the community when you heard a heartwarming story. Sometimes, it is through outside motivation that made us think about our life and our achievements. Outside motivation gives you hope and remind you that it is possible to be successful and be happy.
There is no stronger motivation then self motivation. People can tell you all kinds of inspiring stories, advice and encouragement but if we have no desire to change, it can’t motivate us. Self motivation requires us to look within ourselves to find the reason to drive us towards our goal. We accept and acknowledge what is lacking in our life and make it our goal to change ourselves. Self motivation requires a lot of perseverance and belief. In self motivation, we tell ourselves what we want to do; nobody and nothing can otherwise spur us to action. We are in charge of our actions and emotions.
Outside motivation could be the first step in helping us identify our goals. It gives us hope and sometimes provides us with the guidelines towards achieving our goals. However, as this is other people’s experience, we might get side tracked or find it difficult to follow. Of course, we can be de motivated too by our own self motivation. However, as it comes from within us and we mastermind the process; self motivation is a stronger and more secure way to help us achieved our goals.

Feeling Overwhelmed?
One of the key reasons motivation can dry up is the sheer amount of work you may have to do. Juggling work and home, children and your relationship as well as trying to find time for yourself can leave you feeling either in a whirl or exhausted.
This can lead to poor sleep, further tiredness and an increasing loss of motivation. “Where should I start?” is often the question you will find yourself asking in this situation.
The first thing you need to do is accept that you will need to take a long hard look at your life. Are you using your time wisely and efficiently? Are you doing things that you could delegate to others? Are you doing things that you should drop? Have you started projects that you will never finish?
Goals and Priorities
It is important that you decide what your goals and priorities are first. Consider the analogy of clearing out a cupboard. The first thing you decide on before filling it is what is the cupboard for? What is its purpose? This cupboard is like your life. What are you trying to achieve? What do you want to fill your life with? These are your goals and priorities.
Once you have decided this you then need to examine everything that was in the cupboard, which relate to the things you spend your time doing, and choose between 3 options:
1. Keep
2. Give away
3. Bin it
What you keep in your life are the important things to you and what you value most. Things given away are delegated tasks to others and the binned ones are those things that you really don’t want to do any more and have no need to continue.
Procrastination
If you clear out the unnecessary and unwanted tasks from your life you should feel a lot lighter. Clarifying what you want out of life and what is most important to you will help you to see what you need to focus on.
But what about the things you have to do that you don’t want to? What about the things you keep putting off?
Procrastination is a classic sign of poor motivation and can waste a lot of time. Think about something you constantly procrastinate about – phone calls, making appointments, filing paperwork.

3 Simple Brilliant Steps to Motivate Your Self Within Seconds
Janet Schlarbaum, founder of www.janetschlarbaum.org shares self motivational tips.
By Lemy Yusento
Yes, I know what you think. We can’t just flip that way and still many negative thoughts keep coming to us.
Let me tell you this. I love simple things, cause simple things make things to be complex. Imagine that the digital world consists only two digit, but look at what it can do. Computers, software, multimedia, even we fly human to the moon using computer’s help.
So, what’s the simple steps to motivate ourselves quickly? Even in seconds we can do it.
Here They Are:
FIRST – When you’re trapped in the situation that you don’t want, calm yourself down first. Then, Think what’s exactly you really want to that situation as if it hasn’t been occurred.
SECOND – Believe as it (the situation) is already happening as you’d want. Imagine that it’s all happening exactly the same as you think in your mind.
THIRD – Feel happy about it. Because feeling happy tells that everything is happening as you want to. Everything is ok, great. How to feel happy immediately?
Here’s two suggestions:
1. Play your favourite music, and just enjoy it.
2. Think about anything, anyone at the past that make you feel funny about it.

When Playing BIG, Old Stuff Will Come Up
By Janet Schlarbaum | December 2, 2008
By Fabienne Fredrickson
Many people have massive doubt about their ability to do something really big in this world, including myself up until very recently. They wonder whether they have what it takes or whether they’re “good enough.” And last week, we talked about taking the great leap of faith, really expanding our vision of what’s possible for our business, for our clients and for ourselves, and ‘Going BIG or Going HOME’.
Now… that’s all well and good, but what about ALL the emotions that arise when you take a great big leap of faith and step into your purpose? No one ever prepares us for that and it can be an uncomfortable process. You see, when you decide to step into your future in a BIG way, unexpected internal stuff comes up, even stuff you thought you’d ALREADY dealt with.
I’m going through this myself right now. You see, BEFORE we make a decision to go BIG, we have to get over our fear of failing miserably. But once we’ve actually made the decision to play a bigger game, then it makes way for lots of other feelings to come up.
As I get ready to launch a new division of my company, along with a new branding, I was surprised to see lots of “old stuff” come up, despite all the mindset work I’ve done. I want to share some of it with you too, because as YOU begin to recognize your potential for magnificence in business and otherwise, and then act upon it, stuff might come up for you too (in fact, it inevitably will).
Here’s a snapshot of what came up for me:
“Will they really want what I’m going to be offering?”
“Perhaps I should just keep doing what I’ve been doing for years. At least I know I’m good at that.”
“Maybe I shouldn’t ‘break what ain’t broke’; I mean, I’m doing really well now, why rock the boat?”
“What if I fail and humiliate myself in front of thousands of people. It’s not worth it.”
“What if they reject my new idea, my new company?”
“Can I really be THIS big?”
“Do I really have it within me to DO this?”
“I’m scared.”
Just telling you about what came up for me these past couple of weeks makes me feel icky inside. But here’s what I also observed. When you break it down, there really are only 2 emotions in the world: Love and Fear. And there are origins for each of those emotions.
Love comes from your higher self, Spirit, Universe, God (whatever you want to call it.) Love is safe, there is trust there, it’s synonymous with Faith. And when you have faith, you cannot express fear. They cannot exist in the same place. And your source WANTS you to grow, to be bigger, to dare to dream an even bigger dream. In fact, Spirit is always championing you to get to the next level, if you’ll just get out of the way.
Fear, on the other hand, comes from the ego. And the ego only wants to keep you small, to keep you “safe” by slowing down your progress, by stopping you, by keeping you under its thumb. This is the only way that your ego can survive, and it’s by controlling you and keeping you down. Yuck.
Now, go back up to the list of things I was thinking and feeling and review them. You’ll see that every one of them is based in fear. Which means that each of them is ego-driven.
But here’s what you must know: fear doesn’t really exist! Fear is False Evidence Appearing Real. And it’s a bunch of nonsense, if you’re willing to look beyond the fear as just a protection mechanism to keep you small. Who wants to be bullied by some little creepy ego to stay small anyway? Not me!
So if you can recognize that what you’re experiencing or feeling is NOT REAL, then it cannot have a hold on you. And that’s what I recognized this week. And I chose to go for it anyway. I hope you will too.
Your Assignment:
Notice what thoughts and emotions come up as you make a commitment to walk boldly into the next step in your business and purpose for being self-employed. Make a list. Write them down. Then, as you read your list, in the margin, I’d like you to label that emotion. 1) Love, or 2) Fear. Which is it based on? I’ll bet just about anything that it’s based on fear.
When you recognize this, you can choose to stay in fear or recognize that you are being “played” by your ego and that it doesn’t actually exist. That all this is fake. And you can choose to act in spite of what’s come up for you.
Listen, let’s admit that this will probably happen a lot more in the beginning. But when you see this happen over and over again, and you recognize it, the hold the ego has on you will begin to diminish considerably. (It already has with me.)
Now, imagine yourself standing at the doorway of your BIG vision and future. You’ve got your hand on the doorknob. You’re ready to step in but you hear “voices” behind you begging you to play small and stay safe. Inside though, you know that these are all smoke and mirrors, that they’re not real.
You have two options: 1) Walk through the door anyway, because you have no choice but to be your best self and stop playing a mediocre game. Or 2) Stay small because of fear, living a beige existence for the rest of your life. You choose.

Double Your Self Motivation and Achieve Your Goals Automatically
By Janet Schlarbaum | November 13, 2008
By Peter Dowell
Everyone wants to achieve their goals and dreams in life, but making your dreams comes true is not always easy. It requires hard work, and to work hard you have to be self motivated. Your dreams may be very dear to you, but at some point in life one may lose the initial motivation and wishes there was a a magic pill to double self motivation.
You have to believe in yourself and believe in your ability to achieve to remain motivated. Your goals also have to be clear to you because you need a purpose for motivation. Once you have your goals set, let your self-belief develop an inner energy based on your individual strengths.
Unfortunately, self motivation does not come with an on-off switch. When it’s “on”, you can feel the positive energy that won’t let you stop until you complete your work. But when it’s “off”, you just don’t feel motivated to do the work no matter how important it is and you may keep procrastinating.
There are of course external factors that can keep you motivated. Friends are one example. If you are one of those few people who have the kind of friends on whom you can rely on to always encourage you, then you are very lucky. But not everyone is that lucky.
Self hypnosis can encourage you to achieve your ambitions and challenge yourself to always make the most of everything you do. Self hypnosis audios will train your unconscious mind so that self-motivation becomes effortless.
